Victim representation

Under Marsy’s Law, which became the law in California in 2008, victims have numerous rights in criminal prosecutions, a few of which include:
  • To be reasonably protected from the defendant and persons acting on behalf of the defendant;
  • To prevent the disclosure of certain confidential information from being disclosed to the defendant;
  • To be informed of all court hearings and to be heard at those hearings;
  • To be able to confer with the prosecutor about the charges and any proposed settlement
  • To be permitted to provide information to the Probation Department, who in felony cases (and sometimes in misdemeanor cases) prepares a probation report in which the Probation Department recommends a sentence
  • To restitution.

Pre-File

In the pre-file process, our criminal defense law firm plays a proactive role in safeguarding our clients' rights and interests before formal charges are even brought. We work diligently to engage with law enforcement and prosecutors, providing crucial legal counsel to mitigate potential charges or prevent them from being filed altogether. Our strategic advocacy aims to present compelling evidence, negotiate favorable outcomes, and advocate for alternative resolutions when appropriate. By intervening early and decisively, we strive to shield our clients from unnecessary legal proceedings and mitigate the impact on their lives.

Litigation

Our team is committed to offering comprehensive litigation services to individuals confronted with criminal charges. From the initial stages of investigation to navigating the intricacies of trial and potential appeals, we meticulously scrutinize evidence, analyze witness testimonies, and devise strategic defenses tailored to the unique circumstances of each case. Our role extends beyond representation; we provide invaluable guidance on legal options, negotiate with prosecutors for favorable resolutions, and passionately advocate for our clients in court. We prioritize ensuring that our clients comprehend their rights, the charges against them, and the potential ramifications they face, all while striving to achieve the best possible outcome, whether through acquittal, reduced charges, or mitigated penalties. At Keith Law, we stand by our clients every step of the way, offering unwavering support and legal expertise.

Appeals

We understand the critical importance of the appeals process in ensuring justice for our clients. We meticulously analyze trial proceedings, identify errors or injustices, and tirelessly advocate for appellate review to rectify any legal missteps and secure a fair outcome for those we represent. Through our strategic approach and unwavering commitment, we stand ready to navigate the complexities of appeals, offering our clients a beacon of hope for a second chance at a just resolution.
